Why has Cephas Ministry
decided to add this subject to our collection of issues that
visitors need to be aware of is IGNORANCE. That is the reason
Satan has made such unbelievable headway. Many of us grew up
in other countries with different cultures. America is an experiment
of "do as thou will." Our websites are the result of
that. America's way of life has spread world wide and vice versa.
Lawlessness is the name of the game today.
In reference to the scammers
we were told that foreigners cannot be charged with crimes they
commit in the U.S.. Even though technology is world wide, scammers,
in most cases, are impossible to track. Consider this statistic
for just one state in 2021, North Carolina: "Romance Scams
have Climbed to Record Highs in Recent Years. In North Carolina,
539 Victims Lost $17.3 Million to Romance Scams in 2021. That's
an Average Loss of $32,194 per Victim."
Since these scammers
target Christians in many cases, Cephas Ministry was targeted
in the hope of draining its resources. Praise God, due to constant
prayers to end the two and half-year journey, the loss was restored
due to an unexpected inheritance. Obviously God is in control
of our lives. We have no doubt of that.
For believers these encounters
are most difficult since the scammers, who get involved from
that point of view, use the Bible accusing the giver of lying.
Often the giver is interested in Salvation for the scammer, not
knowing who he or she really is.
Considering the tools
scammers use they work very fast to avoid fact- checking etc.
They present themselves in a similar situation, a widower, even
use same last names. If it applies scammers are supposedly a
Bible believer. Even though they have never seen their subject,
they are madly in love with him or her. They shower them with
often daily love letters, images and youtubes of lovers and promise
a whole new future by coming together. In our case it was about
help for the ministry.
2 Peter 2:17-19 "These
are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest;
to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they
speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the
lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were
clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise
them liberty (from loneliness) , they themselves are the servants
of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is
he brought in bondage."
If it were not for the
following people to share their experiences, many more would
get caught up in this detestable dilemma of elderlies losing
their livelihoods and alienating their families. That is why
we are sharing in getting this information out to the public.
Cephas Ministry was totally unaware of these types of scams.
We thank all that have come forward with their stories in spite
of the embarrassing accounts. That goes for the programs who
help get the stories published like Dr. Phil, Scamfish, Catfish,
ENDEVR, Trilogy Media, Scammer Payback, etc.
Proverbs 28:13 "He
that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth
and forsaketh them shall have mercy. "
- Self-loathing for being
such a fool is of course the result that needs to be overcome.
For all of us sinners, is not a matter of if but of when and
how. So instead of denying our failures, we pray that each time
we fall it will be into God's arms and into His protection. He
alone can help us stand again and prevent us from ever falling
away from faith in Him. We live in a fallen world and have to
forgive ourselves for our failures.
